Beginning this project and looking the data the part that shocked me the most was the actual number of immigrants coming to United States. The numbers were extremely large. The unclear message I believe was the decreases in certain decades and I wanted the answer as to why the number of immigrants fell. The visual aspect of the project that was assigned really made answer understandable.

The unclear message I believe was the decreases in certain decades and I wanted the answer as to why the number of immigrants fell. The visual aspect of the project that was assigned really made answer understandable.
At this present moment United States are dealing with the economic crisis. It is unknown where this dilemma will lead to whether its another depression or a positive turn around. With that being said I think the decade 1990-2000 hit its peak the only next step is to decrease in the following years.
My partner and I both decided we wanted to make our project visually unique. We both talked about different possible ideas. We went back and forth and together we had chosen the monopoly game board. We were very exciting about our idea and could not wait to see its turn out.
In agreement with my partner the most challenge part was graphing our data in a creative way. We tried to present our data in many different ways but none of them worked out in the way we wanted them to. So with limited time we made a bar graph with monopoly hotel pieces to represent the numbers.
I would change nothing because we took a chance with this project. We did something never done or seen before. I love our monopoly board game and proud of its outcome!

What surprised you most about this information? What seemed quite obvious about explaining this data set?
Many things that I was surprised about was the act that were established through the few decades I researched. I was surprised to see that someone were very discriminating. Some small things seemed to have quite an affect on America in that time. I also found a few things that I wasn't very surprised to see such as the Spanish, American War, Immigration Act of 1917 and 1918, and The Great Depression.- Looking at the overall trend and incorporating what you know about the US presently, predict and defend the immigration trend for the next two decades.
I think that it will rise. America isn't the only country that is facing economic issues but on the other hand I think that it could possibly decrease eventually. Within the next two decades I believe immigration into America will continue to increase. - Describe how you made a decision on how to visually represent the information.
Within my group we decided that the most straightforward place to represent our information would be a lucid chart. We thought that this would help us organize our thoughts and create a clean visualization. Originally we were going to show the volume of immigration by changing the sizes of the boxes. Then we agreed to use color instead. We thought it would be softer on the eyes and not so harsh. - What parts of group work were challenging?
The most changeling part was organizing all our thoughts and finding a way to represent those thoughts and research. We wanted to create something that would be interesting and people would want to look at while also incorporating all the details. - What would you do differently if you had this project to do over?
I would definitely find a different way to represent the information because this was something that I have only done a few times before so I would like to see how else I would be able to interpet this information. Also, I'd like to see what other tools are available for these kinds assignments.

2001-2010 it wouldnt go up alot because of the immigration problem bush was having and then 2011-2020 wouldnt go up as much because of the money issues we were having - Describe how you made a decision on how to visually represent the information.
well we made our frist decision after much discussion. alot of things had to be compromised since then due to technical difficulty. - What parts of group work were challenging?
communication which im horrible it was hard to get things done because i didn't communicate what i needed to the rest of the group. i need to ask better questions to the group and be a better team member - What would you do differently if you had this project to do over?
i would do more i would try harder to learn how to properly use the technology available to me and spend more time at home on this then i did or comunicate want i needed done so my group could help me

surprised you most about this information? The things that surprised me the most was the time period, the major events that took place during those years. I would never thought America went through. What seemed quite obvious
about explaining this data set? The words was really short, They couldn't really fit. When there were major ups or downs in
the immigration is was usually do to things we learned in school. What
was surprising was some of the reasons for slight changes. The immigrations were over thousands of people, they all came to the United State base on the fact that they needed a new life and American Needed them for workers.

decades. I think more Immigrants are going to come, however it wouldn't be as much as the past decades, because American is going though hard times now and they wouldn't have a better life here.

interesting and simple to combine our information.

parts of group work were challenging? Some people wouldn't get their part done on time and they couldn't put it together because we was missing parts.
- What
would you do differently if you had this project to do over? I would
have added videos of the older days of immigrants and describe How it felt because I'm also a immigrant, so I could compare this time period toward theirs.

When viewing the data collected as a group a few things came to mind. When thinking of America I always thought it was the best place to be no matter where you’re. As in the luxury of living in America was better than any foreign country no matter what occurs in America. I am familiar with the great depression but always thought it was over rated. It turns out when the great depression occurred it was the greatest decrease of incoming immigrants in time.
The way we constructed our visualization was that it would represent how time affected the growth of America. What we did was display each decade in the shape of a circle, the size of the circle represents the amount of immigrants in coming to America that decade. Within each circle is an explanation of why this may have happened. The circles leading up to the most modern circle with the largest number of immigrants seem to be increasing. Therefore the lifestyle in America is increasing. This leads me to believe that within the next 2 decades the amount of immigrants will increase.
The most challenging part of working in a group would be deciding on how the visual would be constructed. We all had different ideas that we each wanted to project. Then we had to find a way to combine our ideas in order to satisfy the whole group. It wasn't that difficult but we were able to accomplish the visual without encountering dilemmas. If I were to do something differently to the visualization I would keep the number of the immigrants in the circle.
