Home Network, Shuter

Posted by Grant Shuter in Technology - Freshman - Hull - y2 on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 11:41 am

On my home network I have the typical devices for an upper middle class 4 person family. I have a modem/router, a desktop computer, 4 smartphones, 4 tablets, 4 laptops, an xbox, 2 printers and an alarm system.
I learned a lot about home networks in the past couple weeks. I learned what type of cables connect different devices. I also learned that even alarm systems are included in a home network. If someone wanted to learn about ISP's and their home network, I would tell them to write down everything that they have on their home network and then see what kind of connection they have. (wireless, coax cable, ethernet cable).

Home Network, Gregory Tasik

Hi my name is Gregory Tasik and the picture above is a diagram of my home network. All the connections of the devices in my house to the router are all wireless. I have 6 phones, 3 laptops, 3 tablets, a wii, xbox 360, 2 DVD players, and a smart TV.
One shocking thing I learned about networks is that our computers leave tracking info whenever we visit a website. I was suprised to know our computers leave evidence of every single thing we do on our computers. One thing I would tell others about having a home network is to be careful what they do/see on the internet.

All the devices connected to my internet are my phone, my laptop, my xbox, and my tablet. My mom's phone, laptop, and tablet are also connected to my internet. My dad also has the same three products connected to the internet. Something new that I learned while doing this project is that my parents pay for our internet, phone line, and cable all in a bundle instead of sepearately. Something that I would tell other people about finding an ISP is that they should find one that fits them the best. For example if they have a small family, or live alone, they don't need a plan that includes a whole bunch of devices.

Andrew's Home Network

I have Verizon Fios my router is connected to a ethernet cable. My router connects to 3 tablets 6 computers a Wii U and Apple TV. I did not know how complex the web was of course I knew it was more than a router but, all the work it takes to just pull up a web site and so fast is crazy. These things are so simple now you just plug in a router to a plug and a cord and your pretty much done you don't relay have to know anything any more. All you should now is COX cable, Ethernet, etc.
