Ashley De La Cruz-Media Fluency

Tech-Slide-Ashley
I chose to not put as many words, so I decided to fill my slide with pictures instead. The text that I did included was not very difficult to read, because I think that I made the words large enough. I used up all of the space, so that there weren't any blanks. I was born in Los Angeles, California on October 10, 2000. I love to play softball and I also love to visit Mexico. I love and care for all of my family and friends. I am loving, shy, kind, and athletic. I’m also respectful, determined, and hardworking. I also enjoy taking pictures.

Me Magazine- Jowon Dorbor

Posted by Jowon Dorbor in Technology - Freshman - Hull - y1 on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11:56 am

I made the slide the look the it way it is because I wanted the pictures and the words to be in a glance media. It can be quickly read and understood. I also made the ‘we’ a different color (Pink) because I wanted to make sure that by we I mean girls. I was influenced just by my beliefs. Also I wanted it to be unique in my own way. I saved the the top and bottom part of the slide for empty space instead of filling the slide with pictures.

My Me Magazine Slide

Posted by Lauryn Lewis in Technology - Freshman - Hull - y1 on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11:37 am

Hello everybody, my name is Lauryn Lewis and today I will be presenting my me magazine via slide. As you can see I have a love for my family and writing that is so profound you can not even describe it. Without my family and being able to express my life through writing I would not be as nice of a person as I am today. They have given me life, and a good one at that.

Who am I online?

Posted by Tyreek Speedwell in Technology - Freshman - Hull - y1 on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 10:50 pm

In tech class we watched a video on bullying. I learned what to do when I see someone being bullied. I should just tell an adult. I also learned what internet trolls are. They are people who just enjoy making us others feel bad.

Waverly O'Neal's Home Network

Posted by Waverly O'Neal in Technology - Freshman - Hull - y1 on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 8:52 pm

Waverly's Home Network
My ISP(Internet Service Provider) is Verizon. In my house I have a modem/router that connects to a desktop, 2 T.V.'s, and a printer. My wi-fi connects to 4 tablets, 3 phones, and 2 laptops. During this assignment I learned all the components of a home network, such as the modem/router, Ethernet Chord and Fibre Cable, and what it really takes to give the internet connection I take for granted everyday. I think everybody should know what their home network looks like and what is connected to what-that way if something happens you don't have waste time trying to figure it out and you can get right into fixing the problem.

Who am I Online?

1. Today we watched a cartoon about bullying, googled ourselves, and altered images from the internet. The bullying cartoon was advertising an emoji that is used as a symbol for anti-bullying. 2. In the video you could click the emoji to make the situation better. This reminded me that anyone can stop bullying with something as simple as changing their attitude toward someone or about something. 3. I appear as a warm, fun, pleasant person online. 4. I think people would probably percieve me as a warm, fun, pleasant person. 5. An internet trolls goal is to anonymously disrupt discussions with negative comments and/or posts. 6. A positive to online anonymity is the fact that you can be anyone you want to be online. A negative is that if the user is anonymous it makes them harder to track if they aren't abiding by the rules of the internet.

a. When I search my name I find Facebook profiles that show up and then images of my close friends and my aunt show up.

b. I found that my SLA email comes up, but my family also shows up.

c. This matters because it shows how the internet connects somehow to me in different ways

2. Jayla Wright (personally doesn't show up)

Successful, competitions, YouTube, makeup, actress.

a. The five words that I was told somewhat describe me, mostly the One Direction part because that's a big part of my life, also my friends because my super close friends show up.

Who Am I Online? Ashley De La Cruz

Posted by Ashley De La Cruz in Technology - Freshman - Hull - y1 on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 9:06 pm

In class, we watched a video about bullying. There was a little boy that was getting bullied before school, during school, and after school. There was an eye icon that appeared during some parts of the video. If you clicked on the eye, then something would prevent the little boy from getting bullied. For example, after school, the boy was walking home but he had a sign on his back. The sign said, "kick me", if you clicked the eye icon, then the bullies walking behind him would come up and take the sign off and be nice to him. However, if you didn't click on the eye, then the bullies would come up to him and kick him, like the sign said. When I think of bullying, I often think about others not doing anything to prevent bullying. I also often think about suicides, because bullying is often what leads to someone deciding to take their life away. Online, I appear to be a transgender model, even though I am not. There are also Facebook profiles from people named Ashley De La Cruz, which aren't mine, because I don't have a Facebook. I think if someone didn't know who I was, and they decided to look me up online, they might think that I am a transgender model, but I doubt it because I don't model. The goal of an internet troll is to create drama by making up false statements or accusations, in order to stir up controversy on someone. Something positive about online anonymity is that you can talk about something personal, like bullying issues, physical abuse issues, or any other thing, without using your real identity, so that it doesn't affect your daily life. Something negative about online anonymity is that if someone is being rude, disrespectful, or inappropriate towards someone else, you won't know who the person is because they are anonymous.
