I choose to design my slide like this because I feel strongly about my friends. I decided to put most but not all of my close friends in it because I think they should be appreciated. I choose to design it this way because my friends literally make me. Without them I wouldn't be me. When I was thinking of what to do the first thing that came to mind is friends because they are so special to me. Also I put " MY LIFE " in the top left corner because they are my life. I also put the emojis because who doesn't like emojis. I always use them with my friends so its something that symbolizes that.

Red Stream

The reason I designed my slide this way was to symbolize my nationality. My race is a very important thing to me because it is the one thing that usually differentiates me from other people I meet. The background of my slide is a symbol for biracial and seemed very important to include in the slide. The W and B were used to symbolize both sides of my race, but it was also used to show other characteristics I have. I used “contrast” technique to make the words easier to notice and keep up with.

I chose this particular picture because it’s one of my favorite drawings. It really just stuck with me and I always found it fascinating how someone could create this with just a pencil. I used a decent font size and a font that I really like. I used red on black to create contrast to make the colors pop out. I used the rule of thirds. The picture is on the right and the word is on the left. This will prevent the focal point from being in the center of the slide.

I decided to make my slide look like this because I wanted a really inspirational quote that also had to do with singing because that is what I enjoy doing on my free time. The thing that mainly influenced my decision making was how my classmates kept telling me stop singing and then it hit me, I should do my slideshow about singing. I was going to do the fact that I am from the Dominican Republic but I had already used that previously and I wanted viewers to get to know me a bit better. On my first slide I put a picture of nature and on it was a quote by Maya Angelou that read “A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.” This quote is not only beautiful in it’s simplicity, but it sends a powerful message that we should not work so hard to find the beauty in today, but enjoy that today is here and tomorrow is bound to come. This quote is really inspirational and is tied back to singing, something I enjoy doing.

Media Fluency-Me Mag. Slide
I originally got the idea for my slide when I kept seeing the words simple, big, to the point, and short repeated often in the articles I found when researching for this assignment. The samples of the Ikea billboards on Presentation Zen were a big inspiration for my slide. Basically what I got from the articles that I read was to not have any unimportant details, just give the main idea and be straight to the point. I chose to display the title of my Me Magazine because it really does the job of summing up my slide in one short sentence..while also not giving enough information for the viewer to really know what my magazine is about. This will most likely make them want to know more about it and therefore pay more attention to me when I’m talking about it (the magazine). For my slide, I decided to use 4-5 of the 8 lessons from Presentation Zen. The first one I decided to incorporate was, “(1) Make it visual,” which states, “Slides are visual aids, not ‘text aids’...” Using this lesson, along with numbers 2, “One slide, one point,” and 3, “Make text big,” I decided to make the two main focuses of my slide a picture of myself (visual) and the title/main idea of my magazine (big text). Together, they give my slide that ‘one point’ aspect. Lastly, I chose the background color and the text color with the contrast lesson in mind to really make the bright colors in my picture and the color of the text stand out.

Pitch
When I was about to make my slide I knew that I had to pick a theme. I liked the idea of the two colors on top of each other. I chose my favorite color purple and the color white because I thought that would compliment the purple Next I had to pick a font. I decided to pick cursive so it would flow. I also like the kerning of this font. I pick a quote about joy because I love to be happy.

Me Magazine Slide

In my me magazine I talk about how I am so interested in computers, and the process in making them. That's why when I grow up I want to be a computer technician. My slide is a picture of a motherboard because the motherboard is one of the most important parts of a computer. Ikea’s advice for slides, helped because I usually just throw facts on the power point and it doesn’t look pleasant to the audience, but I changed that for this powerpoint. I only placed one sentence on this powerpoint, and that sentence is “I love computers.”

The reason i made this side because i want to show everyone my passion of video games. The reason i made this design for the side like this because i want it to be colorful but i didn’t want too much color so i want with a simple color. I know video games was my favorite thing to play so that influenced and my me magazine help me a lot to choose this design. I also used Kern which let my picture come alive. I loved the way bleed off the page it gave the side a design.

My image is not contained and bleeds off of the slide. The bright colors are eye catching and draw the viewers attention to the picture, and then the words. It is "glance media" because it is simple and understood at a glance. I used 120pt font so it could be easily read on such a large scale.

This assignment was difficult because I found it hard to summarize my entire me magazine in one slide since I incorporated so many aspects of my life into it. I decided to choose a running theme in my me magazine, moving forward against all odds. In my slide I have myself thinking about things that are important to me and that trouble me then I have my self reassuring myself that I can do this. I used contrast with the font, small and large, and color, green and red and black and white. The main message which is moving forward is the largest and thus the first thing that is noticed. I also made some of the picture bleed off of the page.
