Magic..

This slide is a message to all those out there who don't feel like their being seen. The little black girls who have role models that don't really look like them. The young girls who don't feel like their being seen. This doesn't really apply to me, itś just to motivate those who feel alone. It's to tell them to keep moving forward and that one day, they will be seen. I chose those pictures to show that there are beautiful black role models for them to look up to. It took me forever to choose a topic about me, so instead I chose to do a topic thatś not about me.

Single Slide - Ethan

Posted by Ethan Friedman in Technology - Freshman · Hull · e2 Band on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 9:38 am

My life doesn’t really change very much. Most of the things I do have stayed the same for the past 4 years. I spend most of my time programming or playing games to find new ideas. My goal for the last 4 years has been to become a programmer full time once I’m out of college. I want to be able to provide the    same amount of financial support that my family has provided me and my family when I’m older. I want to be able to go out to eat and travel the world. I want to be able to meet new people and understand different cultures than my own. My parents take my education very seriously and for a good reason. They have taught me to understand how important it is to work now. They didn’t have the same experience, both dropping out of college because they were making good money when working full time. Since they both regret it, they want me to go to college and study hard to become the best that I can be. I want to make them proud.

Coding also affects the way I speak. I think about things differently. I look into the backend of things more than what meets the first glimpse. I want to know why things work and not just know that they work. In math class, I like to know why ratios are equal just my multiplying the flipped opposite and then dividing by the remaining. I want to know why that method works without shortcutting. That’s how it relates to school.

Who am I?

I chose to make my slide quite simple. I chose to do this so that my slide would only be an accompaniment to my presentation. I chose to use thirds so that my slide would be easy to for people to look at my slide. I chose to bleed so of my images to make the slide look more interesting.

Tech Me slide (1)
I made this slide visual. What I mean by that is I had the basketball focus in the front and the basketball court faded in the background. As I read on Presentation Zen "Vision trumps all other senses. I tried to harmonized the background, midground, and foreground so people focus on the foreground before looking in the back. I tried to incorporate movement by having the basketball coming in from the side. I put the speech bubble on the basketball because I knew that was the first place people will look at before moving on to the rest of the slide. I wanted the images to have bright colors like orange, blue, and white. To balance the colors, I made the background gray. My design was inspired by the "Make it visual" paragraph and picture on Presentation Zen.

Sam Friedman-Vegetarianism

Sam: This collaboration of images you see before you are all related to Vegetarianism. I have been a vegetarian for my whole life, it has affected my life in the following ways, the way I interact with people, my options, and the way I think about animals. I chose to add these images also because they are colorful, Also these are all images of things that I see pretty often. I also chose to have a balance of color between white and color. I also chose to make it multiple images because I am more than one image.

It affects the way I interact with people because people always ask “oh you're a vegetarian” or “you're a vegetarian, how!”, and that's what people mostly talk about when they find out.

The way it affects my options because when I go out to dinner there might not be vegetarian options, or when I'm in the school lunch line there might not always be a meal ready or at all.

Lastly it affects my opinions on animal cruelty, and meat in general. I think that It is important that we conserve animals, because they have feelings too, also no offense if you like meat but just how you might think my vegetarian food is gross, I think that meat is gross.

In conclusion those are just some ways it's like to be a vegetarian.

Home Network- Moriah Lahr

  a)  We have an old desktop computer that we rarely use, and two mac desktops that my dad uses to edit videos for work. We also have a landline phone that we give the number to  cashiers when they ask for our number so that our cell phones won't get spammed in phone calls. We have a television that we watch sports on and our TV is connected to a Wii, and XBOX, and Cable. We have three IPads that my younger sister uses for entertainment and my dad uses for work. We have four cell phones for my mom, dad, older sister, and me. Everyone in my family that has a phone besides my mom, has unlimited data for our phones. We also have 5 laptops. Two of them are me and my sisters school laptops, one is my mom's laptop, and the other two are my dad's laptops.

   b) I had an OMG moment when I realized how much technology we have in our house. I learned that home networking is sort of split up into two categories; wireless and wired.

   c) I would tell other people that have an ISP/ Home Network that having a router/ modem will help you to get things done a lot faster connected to the internet.

Reflection
1. The devices connected to my home network is my mom's phone, dad's phone, my phone and my little brothers phone. Also are two iPads, my brother's Wii U, Echo Alexa, and my dad's Macbook.
2. I learned about how my internet gets into my home, which is through a phone wire. Also, I never knew our internet providers were Comcast.
3. I would tell people that they need to educate themselves on their home networks because their network providers could be changing their speed or even charging them more money without them even knowing.

Home Network- Nickell Caesar

My Local Area Network, is filled with people and devices. My Network consists on my mom, dad, sister, and me. We all have many devices and sometimes when everyone is on the internet it starts to slow up. We are on the wi-fi 24/7, my parents sometimes turn off the internet during dinner time and night time. My internet is my life. without it I wouldn't be able to play my ps4 and beat Randy at almost every single game. I learned that nothing on the internet is private. Everything that you do online leaves a "footprint" and it can be viewed by the world. Everything thing that I type or say online can be viewed and tracked back to me. I learned that Comcast and Verizon can be corrupt and try to scam the buyer, and there is no really "good" deal. If they give you a high speed for a cheap price, after an one year trial or so they'll up the price for you to pay for the same internet that it was supposed to be. SOmetimes if you try to leave an internet service provider they might have a contract and they'll give you a massive cancellation fee to pay. I would tell other people that want to get a new ISP/Home Network is to just be smart about what they're going to buy. Don't buy into the "best" and "cheapest" deals. Those deals may end up being the ones that cost you the most. Always make sure to divide your connection speed by the cost of the internet to make sure you're getting the cost exact price for speed correctly. ALways make sure to put a Password on your Home Network, so that nobody can just get onto your home network, because if there isn't too many people on your home network it starts to slow down

1.) My L.A.N network consist of 3 phones, 2 computers, a printer, and an Xbox. They are all connected to a modem router combination which runs through an ONT (optical network terminal). Then out of the ONT runs the phone line and fiber optics cable through the window and then to wherever they go next.

2.) I had one big take away from this and that was how complex networks are. That's not only counting the networks themselves but also all the extra thing that ISPs tack on. The way it all comes down to money is not surprising but still a little bit unexpected at the same time.

3.) The only thing that anyone looking at internet service providers should know is to make sure you know all the little details in the plan you're buying. Don't let yourself get robbed of your money.

All the devices on my internet connection mostly connect. some of the devices do not automatically connect because they have connection problems. I learned that my network can connect to multiple routers because it helps distribute signal throughout my house and balance the network. it was interesting to learn about how my internet really works besides just connecting. Internet service provider is a company that provides you with access to the internet. I would tell them to double check their network so that they would not make any mistakes. and also learn and educate themselves more on their internet.
