Character Story Part 4

Posted by Davonte Martin in Storytelling - Chase on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 7:37 am

As Christain pulled up in front of his house, his cell phone rang. "You have your key?" Christain asked. "Yeah" "I'll meet you in there in a couple minutes let me take this call." Christain said, Kareem hated that his Dad worked a lot and his anger showed when he slammed the car door. "Yeah?" Christain said as he answered his phone. It was Police Chief Carl McFadden on the other line, "Christain we have a homicide I think you would want to see." he said. "Chief I can't, I already missed Kareem's game and I want to spend some time with him." Christain responded. "It's Kay… her body was found at the shooting range, she was killed… mutilated." Chief said. Christain closed his eyes and looked through his window to see Kareem stand at the living room door, he rolled down his car window and yelled," Kareem there was an emergency at the shooting range I have to go to, lock the doors, I'll be home before morning." Not surprised by his Dad's actions Kareem slammed the front door as well. Christain hung up on Chief Carl before speeding back to the shooting range. When Christain pulled up to the shooting range he saw the flashed of red lights, an ambulance team, several police cruisers, and a local news crew, he knew this was going to be a long night. While entering the shooting range, Christain felt the stares from other officers, he knew it wasn't good. In the shooting range,  there lied Kay.

Character Story Part 3

Posted by Davonte Martin in Storytelling - Chase on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 7:36 am

Christain arrives at the Rec. center at 9:51, as he pulls up, he see's Kareem sitting on the brick wall. "I thought you said you'll try to make it to his game", Kareem instantly asked his Dad. "I tried but I lost track of time, I'm sorry… did you score?" Christain knew his son was mad, but he tried to avoid his intense questioning by any means necessary. "Yeah 11 points, 2 assist, 1 steal, we won by 2… Earl made the game winning shot." Kareem said so his Dad wouldn't ask anymore questions. "My boy!, you hungry?" Christain asked. "No I just want to go home, I'm tired and I have to leave for school earlier tomorrow." Kareem said as he yawned and his eyes grew red. Both Christain and Kareem went to the car to finish their conversation. "Why?" "Because I have to help my group finish this project that's due tomorrow" Kareem had the habit of waiting to finish things at the last minute. "Oh yeah your documentary project, well you'll do good on it…" Christain told Kareem, his son had a passion for filming and video editing and wanted to have a career in the field. The REC center was only 10 minutes from their house, so they were home in no time.

Character Story Part 2

Posted by Davonte Martin in Storytelling - Chase on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 7:35 am

As Kay is cleaning her pistol she notices a black figure from her top vision run across the back of the shooting range. "Hello…. Christain?" Kay shakenly asked. Kay began to load her pistol and she holds it in a firing position. As Kay stood behind the counter, several of the targets began to move towards her. While the targets are moving the black figure runs back and forth again, hiding behind the still targets. "Who else is in here?… Show yourself or I'll be forced to fire.", Kay loaded her weapon and was prepared to shoot. As she waited to see her target, the black figure emerges from behind one of the targets and stands in the middle of the shooting range. Its full attire was black and nothing on it's body was visible, with the exception of the eyes where you could see it's pure evil. The black figure raised its right arm, which held a 8 inch blade. Kay aims her weapon, and simultaneously the black figure began to run towards Kay. "Stop! Stop!", Kay yelled before firing six rounds at the black figure, however it continued to run towards her. Kay ran towards the door, but it was locked.

As Kay turns to see the black figure, he stabs her on he left side before throwing her to the ground. Kay drags her body to her pistol but before she could grab it, she's stabbed in her left hand disabling her from grabbing anything. The black figure turns Kay around and for several seconds they stare in each other eyes, Kay looks at the black pupils of her killer and she is immediately stabbed directly in her chest by the blade.

3-2-1......................................

After 30 seconds the target moved closer to where I stood holding my 9mm Pistol. Kay stood next to me as her target moved closer , we both stood behind the counter waiting to see our results. "Ha!, two long range shots to the head and chest, and I see no shots to the target not even the border. I think we have a clear winner, you normally win this game... what happend?." Christain gloated. "I don't know Chris, one more round before the night is over?" Kay asked."No I can't, Kareem has a game in a half at the REC." Chris answered in as he packed his things. "Well I don't know where you're from but I don't know of any high school that starts its games at quarter after 10…" Kay responded. Christain looked down at his GUESS Watch and to his amazement it was past 9:00pm. "Shit … damn, I thought it was going on 9." Christain yelled."No we were hear for almost 2 hours. Is he going to be mad?" Kay asked, she knows of Christain's history of forgetting to show up to his son's basketball games. Between work as a Detective and single parent, he sometimes forget these things. "Yea I have to leave now, what time is it?" Chris asked while putting his 9mm Pistol in his side case. "9:33 exactly…", Kay said. "The game should be in 4th quarter, I'll talk to you tomorrow…", Christain replied as he rushed to the front door.  "Okay bye Chri…", before Kay could say goodbye the door had closed behind Christain. Kay stays in the shooting range alone cleaning her gun before going home. She firmly holds her pistol in her right hand as she gracefully wipes the side of her firearm with a suede towel.

Dear M
I hated you for all the emotions in my head, the confusion, you made me doubt everything -Opened my eyes to see the delusion- I hated you for turning my world upside down, for making cry your name at night. But let’s be honest, somewhere in the middle of all this, you showed me a place so beautiful and different.

My dad...

Posted by Perry Woods in Storytelling - Chase on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 9:19 pm

My dad is pretty darn strong and great. In my eyes he is a hero cause he tries so hard. Recently he was interviewed for a paper. The story was published yesterday in the Inquirer and it is online as well. I am really proud of my dad. He is working hard on not only making his t-shirt business happen but staying strong for the whole family.

The Green Grass Still Grows

Posted by Lenea Harris in Storytelling - Chase on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 8:29 pm

"There was a tree
In the middle of the ground
The prettiest tree
That you ever did see.

Oh the tree in a hole,
And the hole in the ground
and the green grass grows all around all around
and the green grass grows all around.

And from this tree,
there grew a limb
the prettiest limb
that you ever did see.

Oh the limb on the tree,
and the tree in a hole.
and the hole in the ground,
and the green grass grows all around, all around
and the green grass grows all around."

And on that limb there was a branch. The prettiest branch that you ever did see.

But this children's song skipped an important part.

[Extended Version]
And on that  branch,

 there grew a  leaf.

the prettiest leaf

that you ver did see.

But winter came,

and those pretty leaves and pretty branches fell off.

So that pretty tree stood alone.

But the green grass still grew all around, all around

The green grass still grows all around.
