NC Here I Come.

Posted by Narcissa Haskins in Storytelling - Chase on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 8:20 pm

SO! Im way to excited for school to start up. I am officially very proud to say that I am a Benett Bell. Today my mother and I went to the Human Trafficking Conference that my future major was hosting. I was so happy that I was able to meet most of my teachers and the directors of my major. Tomorrow, I go in for my belle begining program and im little nervous about that. Oh! I always found out that because my GPA is above a 3.3 I am allowed to stay in the honors dorm as a incomming freshwoman :D

It happened

Posted by Taylor Valentine in Storytelling - Chase on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 2:07 pm

I left the bathroom stall and waited for my friend, Heather, to come out. I stood in front of the mirror like any teenage girl, messing with my hair and lip gloss.  After 5 minutes, I realized she wasn't in a stall, so I walked outside to look for her.  I soon realized that she wasn't in the amusement park at all! In fact, none of the group was. I quickly called Vernon to find out what had happened.  After missing my call, he called me back.

"Uh, who's this?
"Vernon, it's Taylor."
"Taylor who? Oh right. Why are you calling me from-" I heard a muffled sound as he turned around in the car to look for me. "Oh." "OOHHH!"

They were pulling out of the parking lot, never noticing that I wasn't there. I was almost left in an amusement park and that's how it happened.

Benchmark- What I've done so far

Posted by Karen Brown in Storytelling - Chase on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 10:44 am

In the past couple days not much has happened in the twitter.  Yesterday I made one tweet, and today I will be making another tweet, but it has to be during the middle of the night because that's when it occurred in the story.  Then of course I have to deal with just writing tweet for two months where the main character just writes messages.  *sigh*

It's not enough to bring them to the world because it is required, because they are the foundation of marriage or because you erred in the calculation.

Reflective Post #3

Posted by Taylor Valentine in Storytelling - Chase on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 6:20 pm

I have officially completed my story! This morning, my character experienced a complete transformation on the steps of a Bronx apartment building. She projected her thoughts via successive tweets (all within the course of 3 hours) as the pressure of her new life began to sink in.

Overall, I am very happy with the way my project turned out.  I loved using the descriptive aspect of the Facebook profile in conjunction with the short and sweet tweets.  Patricia Lebow came to life within the last few weeks, so much so that a few people asked me if I knew her in real life! By using a real Flickr account (courtesy of Lauren Piper), I was able to create a believable visual component to my character as well.  She had a face and a life that could have existed outside of fiction.

This is why you need texting.

Graham riding shotgun, the music bumpin'. On our way to the Phillies game. It was a rare guys night out and we were making the most out of it. I noticed someone was trying to merge over in front of us. Usually I would speed up, but coincidentally this car was filled with three teenage girls. They waved that wave that girls do when they know they're pretty and they're trying to coarse the unexpecting guy into doing their bidding. I let them over and drove behind them for a few minutes. Then, I got over to pass them because this lane was moving particularly slow. After realizing the other lane wasn't much better, I decided to get back over, this time in front of them. In attempts to not let such a perfect opportunity slip away, graham climbs out the passenger side window and used his fingers to send them his number so we could meet up with them at the stadium, but as soon as we drove off, we realized graham doesn't have texting.

Pizza Bagels

Posted by Harrison Talese-Rhodes in Storytelling - Chase on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:17 am

Yesterday morning, I missed my chance at getting a pizza bagel.

There are always precious few. I walked past the breakfast line and they were not yet ready. I left. When I returned, I was too late-- they were all gone.

I was very sad. I thought that I would have to wait an unfathomable amount of time, days, maybe, to eat another pizza bagel.

But, hey, what do you know, they had pizza bagels for breakfast this morning too. It was a sign from the universe that I am cared for.

I was sure that there would be enough for me, but I budged in front of the long line for good measure.
