¿Qué hora es?

Posted by Thomas Jeffcoat in Spanish 1 - Manuel on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 11:34 am

In spanish, one of the most basic, but important, things is knowing how to ask and tell the time. Below is a diagram of how to do so...

La Fecha (The date)

Posted by Bryanna Jones in Spanish 1 - Manuel on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 11:29 am

You need to ask your uncle's (fluent spanish speaking) fiancee what the date of the wedding is because for some reason invites can not be flown out of Puerto Rico. Here is a lesson that can teach you to ask and tell dates and times in spanish.

When writing something in Spanish, you need to learn how to say and write the letters in Spanish. Below is a table that shows the letters in English and then the names in spahish and how to pronounce it in Spanish.

Números y Teléfono

Posted by Monisha Das in Spanish 1 - Manuel on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 10:03 am

Learning number in Spanish is the same as in English. In English when you want to know how to say 27, you would say twenty-seven and in Spanish you say veintisiete. Also it is good to know how to ask or say someone's phone number. Below there is a list of
how to say numbers in Spanish and how to ask for someone's phone number

What is your phone number?
¿Cuál es tu número de teléfono?         Informal
¿Cual es su número de teléfono?           formal

It is ........
Es el

I'll call you soon. / I'll call you soon
Te llamo pronto. / Te llamo luego

You see your Dominican classmate in the hallway and she wants your phone number. You should be able to tell her.

In English, Sunday comes first, but in Spanish Monday comes first. The days are not capitalize.

Here are the days of the week (and pronunciations) in Spanish:

You need to spell out your company's name to a local business. The trick is, the business employees only speak spanish!!!

A (ah)  B (beh)  C (seh)  D (deh)  E (eh)  F (efeh)  G (hey)  H (acheh)  I (eeeee)  J (hota)

K (kah)  L (eleh)  M (emeh)  N (eneh)  Ñ (enyeh)  O (ooh)  P (peh)  Q (cooo)  R (ereh)

S (eseh)  T (teh)  U (ooooo)  V (beh)  W (doble-beh)  X (equis)  Y (eegriega)  Z (seta)

Tú vs. Usted

Posted by Symone Mc Collum in Spanish 1 - Manuel on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 9:41 am

You get the chance to meet a famous spanish teacher from spain. His interest and goals are sooo close to what you want in your life, but you don't know what to ask him, and how. You don;t want to disrespect him either, so you need a guide to show you what questions to ask....

Tú and Usted BOTH mean you, but, when you say tú, you use it towards a peer, or someoneyounger. When you say usted, you use it to someone older, or someone that you want to showrespect to.

Preguntas (Tú) (questions informal)

¿Como te llamas?    (como-tay-jah-mas)      What's your name? (informal)

¿Como estas?         (como-es-tas)               How are you? (informal)

¿Qué tal?                (kay-tal)                     What's up?

¿De donde eres tú?    (day-don-day-ear-es-too)    Where are you from? (informal)

¿Cuál es tu número de teléfono?   (coal-es-too-numero-day-telephone-o)   Whats your number? (informal)

¿Cuántos años tienes tú?     (quan-toes-an-nose-tee-an-es-too)       When’s your birthday? (informal)
