Describe a day in the life

Posted by Diana Laufenberg in Globalization - Laufenberg on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 2:33 pm
For the average 12 yo (boy or girl, you pick) in your country that you focused on last week... what is the average day like.

Make a visualization of the day.. you can timeline it with pix, do something more creative.

But by the end of class on Tuesday you should have a representation of that day... with regard to education and health at a minimum... feel free to include more factors and indicators. Provide at least 5 CITED sources to your creation.

When you are done, link to it on SLA.org blogger - SLATE. Double check that your link works. In addition to the link, reflect on... how does this life compare that that of yours when you were 12? What was most surprising about your findings? What parts were expected? What do you think that 12yo's life will be like when they are 40? Describe it... what will have changed, what will have stayed the same?

12 years old, a girl in Taiwan

Posted by Andrew Smith in Globalization - Laufenberg on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 4:26 pm

my life when I was was 12 was basically the same exact thing as a Taiwanese school girl, minus the brushing of my hair, and the girl had a stronger education most likely. I’m not surprised about the amount of schooling they get, however I am surprised about the amount of freedom they have. Health care stays the same with age, and so when she turns 40 she will be in the same situation except hopefully by the time the girl is 40, she will have a job, or have a family of her own.

A Day in the Life...

For this assignment, I did a day in the life of a 12 year old Kuwaiti boy. Life in Kuwait is similar to the United States in regards to Education, because you must go to school until you are 14 years of age. Religious views of Kuwaiti Natives are different, therefore in the evenings men have social gatherings, and women take care of the children's homework and dinner.

A Day in the Life

Posted by Catherine Young in Globalization - Laufenberg on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 10:27 am

Life in Malawi for a 12yo boy or girl is simple. They are to wake up at dawn, help with warming water, meal and any other things needed around the home. If the do go to school they are to walk to their school house which is usually more then 1 mile away. School hours are normally from 8 to 3. when they come home they are to repeat the same steps from the morning. They also are to do their homework, pump water from the well or go into town for grocery shopping, bringing back in all the livestock and creating a fire for warmth.
