Q1 Notebook- Dylan Paul

Posted by Dylan Paul in English 1 · Giknis · Y Band on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 7:59 am

Through this quarter I’ve learned a lot about new notation skills and I’ve benefited from what I’ve learned in the past. It’s been incredibly helpful with planning for future projects and remembering important ideas that I, or my classmates had. It’s kept me on top of everything and I plan on continuing to use visual tools and note-taking skills throughout this year, and additionally including other physical assignments in my notebook. Mac & Cheese and Greens

My story about 3 sisters and their vastly different relationships with their mother. It explores questions like ‘How does family impact one’s identity?’ like the story this was inspired by, Far from the Tree by Robin Benway.

Basketball Dreams

My story is about a father and two brothers who all play on the same basketball team. It shifts perspective and gives detail on each of their lives. in the same way Far from the Tree is about family and siblings.

The long lost twins

Posted by Jaelle Smith in English 1 · Giknis · Y Band on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 9:57 am

My story is about a family that has split from each other. The family names are Samira, Jaidon, Zahmir, and Zaniah. Zahmir and Zaniah are twins. They were born on February 29th at 2:13 pm. The family finally went home after 2 days of being in the hospital. Zahir and Zaniah grew up with each other. Zahmir was 2 years old getting himself into trouble by breaking things. The father got tired of Zahmir breaking things. So, Jaidon ( the father) talked to Samira (the mother) about him. Samira tried to tell Jaidon that Zahmir is only 3 years old. But Jaidon didn’t wanna hear Samira’s mouth at the moment which caused them to start arguing. Jaidon said, “Zahmir is going to be a big problem in school and at home because of his behavior.” When Samira heard what Jadion said, she had some kind of reaction which caused her to say “I can take him somewhere else than planning on staying here for the rest of his 18 years” she said. After the 5 minutes they have been going back and forth, Samira started packing, getting ready to leave the house. They said their goodbyes.

My story is about a teen boy in prison who notices how much he misses his mom. He escapes prison to find her but it turns out she has been looking for him too. Then they pass but don't know it

The Better Part of Me

Posted by Asyiah Moffitt in English 1 · Giknis · Y Band on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 10:18 am

Here I wrote a story of two twin sisters who after a incident began to resent each other. They both have different meanings of family and that gets in the way a lot. With them both mostly feeling unloved, the only way they can find it is within each other.
