Katia's IRP on Pablo Neruda's Poetry

Posted by Alexa Dunn in English 1 - Dunn on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 2:23 pm
I was reading 5 poems from a book named 100 love sonnets  by Pablo Neruda.

He is a chilean poet, he was born in 1904 and died in 1973. Neruda was called the greatest poet of the 20th century  in any language. He won  a lot of prizes one of them was a nobel prize of literature  in 1971. Neruda wrote this book celebrating his love. The book is talking about the different  periods in his relationship with his wife Matteld .

-Poem 1:

It says:  if your eyes were not the color of moon, of a day full of clay and work and fire. this is the first line of the poem. maybe that means that this love is so beautiful  but so hard it is like if we say that this love is as the most pretty  rose. but the prettiest  rose is the most one that have more thorns than any other tipe of flowers. it is maybe saying that love is the biggest hurt but the largest joie. we could know that he loves her so much, his life depend on her life and that this woman is everything  for him. as he says:           but when i hold you i hold everything that is...

-Poem 2:

The first line says: i crave your mouth, your voice, your hair. silent and starving, i prowl through the streets. It means that he strongly  wants her, and he is looking for her everywhere as he misses her so much, it is saying that he is lost without her and that he is nothing if she is not by his side. she means for him a lot and he loves her much.

-Poem 3:

It is saying that the time is so short when they are together. or maybe he wants to say there is something happened  and they were focusing on it then he could not  enjoy  her her, and now he wants to give that time to do what he could not do.

it seems that he really likes her hair. as he says: i only want to be your stylist. also he is telling that he loves her so much, as he says:  do not forget me remember that i love you. also, he really needs her with him, as he says:  don't  let me wander lost without your hair.

-Poem 4:

The first line of this poem says: i do not love you as if you were salt--rose, or topaz...I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul.  it maybe means thatthis love is a secret between him and himself and that it could be something so pretty  that we can see but it is not as it is invisible. but however he it is a beautiful  feeling inside,  as he says: i love you as the plant that  never blooms but caries in itself the light of hidden flowers.he is saying that he just love her and he can not control his feeling, as he says:  i love you without knowing how or when or frome where. he loves her so much and his heart, his mind and his soul are always with her, he is talking as there is two souls in one body, as he says:  so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so close that your eyes close as i am fall asleep.

-Poem 5:

in the first line it says: leaning in to the afternoons i cast my sad nets towards your oceanic eyes.  so, he is trying to get something from something that can not give him what he is looking for. he is putting his nets in a sad ocean where there is nothing to get,.the fire of that love is burning him and no one could take him out even  water   as he is talking about fire and  drowning. he is lost, he is drowning in that ocean which is her eyes or love, he is lost and he wants to  be in the sea or the beach, he wants to see the land, he wants to see something that tells him that he is all right and he does not need to be scared anymore, something like the lighthouse. all of these things that he wants to see are just in her eyes, all of these places where he wants to be are in her eyes. but her eyes are so far, he can not see her eyes as they are absent  eyes which means that everything is absent. he says:  there in the highest blaze my solitude lengthens and flames, its arms turning like drowning man s. i send out red signals acrosse your absent eyes that smell like the sea or the beach by lighthouse.     his love for her gives him a courage  and strength, he could do anything just to arrive to her, as he says:   leaning to the afternoons i fling my nets to the sea that is thrashed by your oceanic eyes.  it seems like this love hurts him someway but it still beautiful  and he is fighting for it, as he said:  the birds of night peck at the fast stars that flash like my soul when i love you. the night gallops on its shadowy mare shedding blue tassels over the land..

I really love these poems, i like how the poet is using the opposite language and relating everything to nature, his poems are unclear, i feel like he has some of sheakspear  language as he uses a lot of medaforms  and we can not understand   what he wants to say exactly.  if i would have an opportunity  to change something in these poems i would never change anything, when i was reading them i felt   that he  feels what he wrote or he wrote what he felt. and if the write what he feels he makes the reader live with him what he is saying.

i am so glad because i knew this poet and i  rad  his poems i hope if i could read the haul  book. if some one is looking for something to read i would definitively  say that this book is one of the best books.

i loved it, i loved it, i loved it.

YATW Blog 3: Agent of Change

Blog 3: Agent of Change
Jesse Shuter

Hunger and poverty in Philadelphia is a serious issue. It is also the issue that I chose to learn and teach about. As part of the experience of helping to abolish hunger in Philadelphia. Through a youth organization that I am a art part of called Gratz JCHS, I joined a program called food for thought. I volunteered with this program nine times, I went on the following days: October 15th; October 29th; November 5th; December 3rd; January 7th; February 4th; March 4th; April 8th; and May 6th. The program entailed going to a kitchen at a synagogue near where I live. As a group we would cook varying meals including all the main food groups (meat; vegetables; starch; fruit; etc.). We would then package the food and deliver the food to a variety of organizations that bring food to people that cannot afford the food and would otherwise starve. Sometimes we would even deliver the food to homes for old people.

Another event that I took part in was going to the Ronald McDonald House. Together my family and I, along with two other families that we are friends with went to the Ronald McDonald house to cook a meal and serve it to all of the people staying at the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald house is for families that have children in the hospital and cannot afford a place to stay while their children are getting special treatment for their illnesses that they may not be able to get anywhere else. By serving the food we provide these families with a meal and we also try to brighten their day and take their minds off what may be going on in their lives. I volunteered at the McDonald House once on March 3rd, and I will be doing it again on June 2nd.

When I started this project my plan was to learn more about Hunger and Poverty in Philadelphia and try and help some people along the way. My process began by choosing my topic. I wanted to choose an important topic, but at the same time I wanted to choose a topic that people seem to be ignoring. Sadly there were many options, but one issue that I felt needed more attention was povery and hunger in America. This was a pretty broad topic, so I wanted to narrow it down. Then I thought that there was no better way to start then by fixing poverty and hunger in my backyard; in my home; in my city. That is how my topic became Poverty and Hunger in Philadelphia. At the same time my friend had just joined the program food for thought and he told me it was a very rewarding experience so that was how I got involved in that program. By the end of my experience with poverty and hunger, I had been affected by my new experiences. By meeting these people and learning what they are going through on a daily basis, I have come to appreciate what I have more, and I also have become more invested in the programs I am participating in.

Through this project, I feel that I have helped many people. If it were not for me there would be many people that would not have meals and that is an experience that I cherished. I was also able to take a leadership role and got many of my friends invloved in the food for thought program, just as my friend had done for me. I the community I see myself as someone who is still learning. I truly believe that I can and will make a difference, but I believe that the small steps that I am taking now are playing a large role in what kind of leader I will be. The experience I gained from this project will influence me to continue participating in programs where I can help people and make a difference.

YATW Blog 3: Littering and its Affect on the Environment

Posted by Miles Cruice-Barnett in English 1 - Dunn on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 7:21 pm

This is a continuation of my first and second blogs. If you have not read them, I suggest you do and then come back and read this one.

My name is Miles Cruice-Barnett. My English class at Science Leadership Academy is doing a “You and the World” project. What is a you and the world project? What we do is pick an issue in the world, or nation, or community, or wherever, and we do research on it. We then post a few blogs about it and go out and try to help fix the issue. My issue is about littering in public places and how it can affect the environment.

For my agent of change I organized and participated in a litter cleanup at Jefferson Square Park.

Organizing the cleanup was harder than I thought it would be. First I had to find a date that worked for me and then I had to see if people were available to to it. I had to do it during the week because I had no free weekends. In the end only a few people showed up, but we worked for over an hour and cleaned almost two bags of trash.

We took lots of pictures and you can see all of them here by downloading the PDF.

CleanupPDF

There was definitely a lot of trash in the park and we made it better for the community and the environment. I found that though organizing a cleanup can be hard, doing them can be fun, and when you are finished you know that you have made a change in the world. When I first started I thought it would be boring work, but even with few people we worked well and had fun. I will definitely be organizing more cleanups in different areas and trying to get people involved in making the world a better place

.

This is the Bibliography for all of my blogs.

Teen Driving : Distractions, Part 3

Teen Driving : Distractions, Part 3

SAM_2762
SAM_2762

Hello again! My name is Lauren Thomas. I am a freshman from Science Leadership Academy. I am writing a series of blogs called You and the World. For more information, I urge you to read my first blog post for an introduction and my second blog post that leads up to final installation, this post.

For our last third of this project, everyone in the class had to become an “Agent of Change”. The mission for us as Agents of Change was to make a difference in the community. Your change would depend on your issue (for example, if you did blog post on animal cruelty, your Agent of Change would be to volunteer at an animal shelter). Because my topic is Teen Driving, there isn’t much you can do except raise awareness. I decided to create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) using iMovie.

My first idea was to record a video of what a teen driver should and shouldn’t do behind the wheel. I had big plans for this so I asked my friend Maddison to help me film. When I watched the footage back I got really upset because it didn’t turn out like I planned.

Screen Shot 2013-05-12 at 4.41.14 PM
Screen Shot 2013-05-12 at 4.41.14 PM
I went back to the drawing board and came up with a new idea. I decided to make a PSA of teens who were affected by teen drivers. Of course, I didn’t use real teen drivers, I had friends volunteer to help me out. Over Spring Break I posted many statuses on Facebook to get as many people as possible to help me out. On Friday, April 5, 2013, I gathered all 13 volunteers to help me film my video at lunch. I gave each volunteer a piece of paper with their person’s story on it. The stories I used were either real or based on real stories. I was really happy when the PSA turned out perfectly, I couldn’t have done it without the people who volunteered to help.

To actually make the difference, I had to present my video to people. I presented my PSA to the Bey/Martin (and a small number of VK’s) advisory of freshmen on Monday, April 15, 2013. On April 22, 2013, I presented to Mrs. Dunn’s senior advisory. Click here to see the video me presenting to her advisory. (Thank you to Morgan Caswell-Warnick who recorded me and took pictures.) I also had some of the seniors play the Toyota Teen Driving game from blog two. Vinny Russell tried the first first level of the game.

Here was his scoring (Vinny was better in some parts of the game than Dillon who took it in my second blog).

I feel that this was a really big project for me. It was something very different from what I was used to doing when I was in middle school. I had fun with this project and I learned a lot about myself while doing so. This project had me open up my eyes to see that there are many teens, more than what is shown on the news, who have driving accidents. I feel like my PSA could really make a big impact on people who watch it because it’s all true.

I’m not the only person who has a You and the World project, all of my volunteers do too. Please visit all my volunteer’s blogs, I couldn’t have done my project without them: Michelle Friedman’s Immigration Reform, Morgan Caswell-Warnick’s LGBT Rights, Angel Owens’ Self-Harm, Jiwon Choi’s Domestic Animal Abuse, Dillon Hershey’s Pet Euthanasia, Trinity Middlebrooks’ Child Adoption, Lauren Hummel’s Animal Abuse, Zack Hersh’s Litter Problems, Des O’Donnovan’s Animal/Vehicle Collisions, Andrew Roberts’ Abortion Issues, Miles Cruice-Barnett’s Litter Issues, Rosalie Swana’s Gay Marriage, and Anna Sugrue’s Gay Rights.

And the best part of this project: my final PSA! Here is the video! Please enjoy it.

And if you’re interested you can find the BLOOPERS from this PSA here.

Here is my bibliography!

Thank you for sticking with me for these three blog posts, I hope you enjoyed.

Macbeth Creative Piece (Monologue)

Posted by Soledad Alfaro-Allah in English 1 - Dunn on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 10:59 pm

I decided to write a short monologue from the point of view of lady Macbeth. Showing how she changes throughout the play and her interactions and feeling towards Macbeth. It starts with her being angry and controlling. It shows how she is angry with Macbeth for acting like such a coward when he knows he should be a man. It is how she controls him. It then shows how she begins to sort of plumet and become much more vulnerable to everything around her. Such as the immense amount of murders and deaths. The guilt eating her alive showing significantly. The process of writing this monologue was fun and frustrating. I loved trying to get deeper inside of the mind of Lady Macbeth while using the quotes and interpreting them in whatever which way was not only fun but helped me analyse the reading to a greater extent. I was frustrated with how to come up with a transition of her attitude throughout one monologue and I did that with the help of the quotes from the book. In order to craft this apart from the writing, I thought it would be more fun if visually the paper that the monologue was written on appeared older that it actually was. In order to achieve this goal, I crinkled it up and burned it in certain places. After that I had put it into the oven to make the creases appear more crisp and obvious. What I am most proud of is the way I interpret Lady Macbeth throughout this monologue I feel like I give the audience a full overview of how she was in the early stages of the killing of duncan and then how she was later on.  If I were given the opportunity to do this differently I would memorize and perform it. I had performed the monologue but it was off of paper and I feel that if it would have been memorised it would have brought more to life in that piece. From my colleagues I learned that there are many different forms of interpretation and events in the story. Many people had done things such as sculptures or videos or drawings. They had all chosen something that worked in their favor for the most part, and I found how I teach people about certain things the best which is through my writing and for others it might have been a power point or a comic.. etc. What I learned about myself is that I do wonderful work when I use all of the time I am given to the fullest, and I feel if I had exercised that more prior to posting this the project itself would be a lot better. The entire monologue reads:

“I once heard willows fall silently under the commands of men. Breaking bows and tragic cries of escaped breathe…Success is never blessed without blood.

and Macbeth will wear a crown of crimson proudly For my smile has been etched on to long in this place and If I were broad shouldered and could push down willows with my breast Oh how I ask!  "Come to my woman's breasts and take my milk for gall!!" for the back of macbeth cannot carry that of a load like an  but his knees buckle at fear of  weight so Unsex me here You murdering ministers obey me like that of a man. Hold me into war that only men can bare but I have hands of a woman and I bare no chest to command those who I see below me, and cowardly Macbeth begs for my satisfaction. "INFIRM OF PURPOSE!" Jumping out of his skin at every shadow, but "The and the dead are but as pictures. Tis the eye of childhood That fears a painted devil." Yet he shutters at the sight of blood, and now that he has grown to be king I feel empty, this skin has begun to hold hands with the bones of my soul and I am hollow. The power that has consumed him into the depths of shadows yet I still see the shallow waters of fear engraved in his face. I AM MORTAL NOW! and my heart is way too heavy.”

Temptations

Posted by Daniel Ross in English 1 - Dunn on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 12:53 pm

MacBeth is a well respected man before he is seduced by Lady MacBeth and tempted by the witches.

At the beginning of the Act, Scotland is at war and they just won. The captain enter the room to deliver a message to King Duncan. He tells the King that MacBeth has won them the war. He took a man and cut him from the navel up to the chin. They give him the title “brave MacBeth.” Duncan decides that The Thane of Cawdor who was a trader needed to learn a lesson. Duncan also has a surprise in store for MacBeth. In act 1 scene 3, The witches who are dressed as nurses, and has also just killed The Captain are greeted by MacBeth and Banquo. Banquo and MacBeth insult the witches and ask what they’re doing. The witches respond to MacBeth chanting, "All hail, MacBeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis!  All hail, MacBeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor! All hail, MacBeth, that shalt be king hereafter!" They become very bewildered and Banquo wants to know more about his own future. They tell Banquo that he will bear generations of kings however he will not be one. The witches vanished in thin air. Right after the witches left and as they foretold he was crowned Thane of Cawdor. Later in the scene MacBeth has a soliloquy about how he want chance to crown him king. Lady MacBeth receives a note from the messenger while at her chamber. It’s a note about what has happened to MacBeth. Immediately Lady MacBeth wants more, she wants the fame and the riches and she will stop at nothing to get it.

Before Lady MacBeth gets MacBeth to kill King Duncan she seduces him.  She flirts and tells him how he will be a man. She says that he has no balls and if he ever wants to be a man he would do it. She also says that if she made a promise no matter how bad it was she would do it. After constantly fighting Lady MacBeth now gets MacBeth to kill Duncan himself. In Act 2 scene 2, Lady MacBeth says, “ Had he not resembled My father as he slept, I had done’t. “ This shows that Lady MacBeth is all talk and no action. She talked a lot about wanting to be a man and that MacBeth is less of a man if he doesn’t kill Duncan.  Duncan is now dead and MacBeth comes back to Lady MacBeth with the daggers. MacBeth is remorseful of his actions. Lady MacBeth gets upset of how guilty he is. When she notices the daggers she becomes frustrated with him, so she takes them back and places them on the guards. When she comes back she looks traumatized and has blood all over herself. She tells him that their hands are of the same color but she shame to where a heart so white. MacBeth and Lady MacBeth quickly go back to their chamber and washes their sins away. At the end of the act King Duncan is found dead in his bed and two bloody guards with daggers. MacBeth kills them so they won't have the chance to deny anything. Malcolm and Donalbain flee in fear that Scotland will think they killed their father. MacBeth is now granted the king of Scotland. MacBeth think he’s out of the clear but there are two very wise people who suspect how Duncan died.

At the very beginning of Act 3 Banquo has a soliloquy about his thoughts on Duncan’s death. He says, “Thou hast it now - king, Cawdor, Glamis, all, As the weïrd women (witches) promised; and I fear Thou play’dst most foully for’t. Yet it was said It should not stand in thy posterity, But myself should be the root and father Of many kings.” After his soliloquy MacBeth walks in and invites Banquo to dinner to celebrate his promotion. Banquo accepts but then acts if though he wants to get away from MacBeth as soon as possible. MacBeth fears that he knows what he has done. MacBeth also fears that Banquo will bear generations of kings as the weïrd sisters told him. His fear leads to getting murderers to kill Banquo and Fleance. While on the train back to the chamber the murders succeed in killing Banquo however Fleance escapes. Everyone arrives for dinner and takes their seats. While the table is being set up the murderers arrive to give MacBeth the news. MacBeth has a fit but calms down and gets back to dinner. As he is eating a ghost walks up on the table and heads straight for him. The ghost stops in front of him and points. MacBeth becomes terrified as the ghost resembles Banquo; bloody and beaten to death. Throughout dinner he sees Banquo and Lady MacBeth tells the guest to leave before MacBeth’s guilt becomes more than he can bear.

MacBeth decides to visit the weïrd sister to see his destiny in Act 4 scene 1. The witches once again gives him information to provoke him and make rash decisions. The witches sends Apparitions to answer his concerns. The first Apparition tells him, “MacBeth, MacBeth, MacBeth, beware MacDuff, Beware the Thane of Fife.” MacBeth now has no one to fear but MacDuff. The second Apparition tells him, “MacBeth, MacBeth, MacBeth.... Be bloody, bold, and resolute. Laugh to scorn The pow’r of man, for none of woman born Shall harm MacBeth.” Now MacBeth is pretty sure that he will not fall to anyone. The third Apparition says, “ Be lion-mettled, proud and take no care Who chafes, frets, or where conspirers are. MacBeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill Shall come against you.” MacBeth is now positive t`hat no man living can kill him. However he is terribly wrong. Thinking he can't be stopped he decides he will act on impulse. He goes after MacDuff not knowing he flead to receive help from England. MacBeth decides to kill MacDuff’s family instead. Meanwhile in England Malcolm and MacDuff gather and army and heads for Scotland.

In Act 5, the army from England has arrived. Lady MacBeth has just been announced dead when the messenger comes in to break some bad news. He says that as he watched Dunsinane hill he noticed the trees of Birnam Wood moving towards the hill. MacBeth was very shocked however he still thought no one could kill him because everyone is born of women. MacBeth later gets into fights with several different soldiers but he kills them. MacDuff has now found his way to MacBeth. MacDuff is ready to blow his brains out but MacBeth says no one born of woman shall harm him. MacDuff responds, “Despair thy charm And let the angel whom thou still hast served Tell thee, MacDuff was from his mother’s womb Untimely ripped.” MacBeth now realizes that he made a huge mistake and regrets what he did. MacDuff tell him that he can live and bow down to King Malcolm or die. MacBeth chooses death and so MacDuff cuts his head off. He’d rather die on his feet than live on his knees.

In conclusion if the witches had not told MacBeth what was set out for him, he most likely would not have done any of those actions that lead up to his death. Lady MacBeth also played a part in these actions. MacBeth wasn't greedy for anything at all when he was announced Thane of Cawdor but his wife seduces and argues with him until he feels that Duncan needs to be dead. Then the witches tell him that that he can not fall to anyone born of women leaving him ruthless. MacBeth was a tragic hero.

MacBeth was an honest man; loyal and respected man

He fought the war for Scotland

Brave MacBeth was his nick name cause he never ran

Unseeming men from navel to throat

Killed that man like he was a roach

Witches told MacBeth he had a lot in store

"All hail, MacBeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis!

All hail, MacBeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!

All hail, MacBeth, that shalt be king hereafter!"

MacBeth only wanted to know more

Banquo ask what are my plans

The witches say in power will be your kins

King Duncan said someone needs to be promoted

MacBeth said I would be truly devoted

Lady MacBeth is overcome with greed

And won’t stop until pleased

Let’s kill the king, he won’t miss his ring

He won’t even miss a thing

You’re not a man

Unless you give no pics

You know what I want

You know what makes me tic

Please I’m asking you just kill this itch

MacBeth says Fine fine just shut up

What’s wrong with power and a few bucks

Shoot maybe even get a pup

“Had he not resembled My father as he slept, I had done’t.“

Lady MacBeth isn't so blunt

All talk, no action

Can,t walk the walk, don't talk the talk

MacBeth went in for the kill

It was a good deal

Duncan is now bloody and bashed

MacBeth will soon find he wrote a check he couldn’t cash

Bloody was his hands

He killed the king of Scotland

He didn’t mean to end his life

He knows it wasn’t right

Now he has to hide his life

He can’t even sleep at night; can’t get it off his mind

He never thought he’d do it

Whatever happened to him

What started out as simple promotion

Turned into a real bloody situation

He’s just thinking of the army that he’s facing

It makes him wanna cry

The apparitions tells him beware MacDuff

You shall not fall unto anyone born of women

He thought life would be rough

You shall die when the forest walks to the hill

He sees the forest moving know the intentions are too kill

Lady MacBeth couldn’t go on so she swallowed a few pills

MacBeth not so ticked

Ready to kill MacDuff until

He says from my mothers womb untimely ripped

They fought the battle of the king

When MacDuff cut the neck

of MacBeth; The fat lady sang

A Tragic Hero

Macbeth Reflection
  1. In my movie it’s just a summarization of Macbeth growth to from Thane of Glams to a dead king.
  2. The process in creating this piece went into a state of confusing, first I was going to work with a partner at first on a dance piece but then that couldn’t happen because that person was going away for the weekend. So then I decided to do a dance piece by myself but then I couldn’t because there wasn’t enough time for me to put together a combination. There a just decided to create an iMovie showing the progression of Macbeth’s life.
  3. As previously stated, the process was difficult for me because nothing really worked out with my partner and by myself so I decided to just change it all up by making a movie.
  4. I’m most proud of the tone of the movie, the tone describe how Macbeth’s life transition to a life full of misery.
  5. As always with all my projects, I have to plan fully out mainly with collaboration and time periods.
  6. I didn’t have a chance to view my classmates’ projects so I didn’t really learn anything from them.
  7. I learned that my abilities to do a creative piece are challenged each time I do this because what I think I’m strong may be the total opposite.

English 9, Dunn, Macbeth Cole Hinton

Posted by Cole Hinton in English 1 - Dunn on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 4:48 pm

This is my creative piece to the Macbeth quote analysis that we did for English class. My project is showing the journey of Macbeth to achieve the crown that he desperately wanted. The process to making this project was kind of easy to make. I chose some words from the book and words that reminded me of Macbeth when he was going through this quest for it. Some problems making this project was having the website crash on me when I was trying to make this. I also struggled with trying to make this project look good for the teacher liking. What I like most about this project was finding this outline as a crown. I like this because this whole story is mainly about Macbeth and how he did some much things to get a crown and loyalty of a whole nation. What I would change about this project would do something much creative than this. What I learned from other people's projects, were what they learned and took in from this book and how they interoperate Macbeth in this book. What I learned about me in this project was that I can do more than this creative wise.

This project was about Macbeth's process as a rising dictator and how he begins to betray everyone he was close with. This particular piece ties into my thesis of, Macbeth is a lovable character with a strong moral compass, however, in the end, he betrays everyone's trust. My scratch video is representation of this thesis.
While I was beginning to brainstorm ideas for the creative portion of the project, I was at a standstill with no good and original ideas. Morgan Caswell-Warnick was a great help though by generously offering me the idea to do a Scratch animation. I had used Scratch before so I was familiar with it but I was also well aware that it would be time consuming and very frustrating, and it was. I went through all of the acts in sequential order, giving a little bit of background information before introducing the quotes. I also tried to add music and sound effects in order to bring the video to life. Towards the end, I added a some comical bits to keep the crowd entertained and I think it worked well because all of the people who viewed it, laughed at those last parts. I did come across some obstacles such as malfunctioning sounds, words moving to quickly across the screen or too slowly and frustration with the program. With some patience and moral support, I was able to overcome these obstacles and some constructive criticism also helped. I am most proud of the patience I had during this project with all of the malfunctions and setbacks, I was able to come through it to put together a project that I am, overall, proud of. I say this because, I usually am not patient and don't worry as much about the quality of my work but I was intent to hand in a piece of quality work for this project. If I could change anything in this project, I would be more selective with the music I chose. From my peers, I learned that there are a lot of options when crafting a project and that unless you hear it explained, it could make no sense. Also that Lady Macbeth has many different personalities that can be interpreted in different ways.
As a result of this project, I learned that I can put together really good work if I put my mind to it and that I am more patient than I realize. Also, that I am pretty good at making things using Scratch.

Macbeth

  1.       a. What is this project about? This project is about Macbeth’s rise and fall of his life and loyalty. Macbeth was a trustworthy man that let his dark desires change his life, he was a clean hearted man that over the time his heart grew of power and ambition making bad decision and at the end he was filled with regret.

  1.     b. What was your process like in crafting the creative portion of this project?

  1. My idea for the first time of making this project was making a collage of Macbeth’s life  of how it went from a rise to a downfall, but then to make it much better and interesting I chose to make a comic with the quotes from each act and have a little side story so the reader could understand what’s going on with Macbeth’s life.

  1.       c. What difficulties did you encounter in doing this project? How did you overcome them?

  1. Some difficulties that I encountered doing this projects was finding the pictures from the same play but I overcame this idea by changing my idea of the collage into a comic with quotes and a little more information to make a story.

  1.       d. What are you most proud of in this project? Why?

  1. What i’m proud of making the project in one day not because I was procrastinating but I just got the date that it was due wrong, also because some of my friends thought the comic was really good due to the fact that i read comics I must had picked up some ideas on how to make the comics, I’m proud of this also because it’s my first comic project that I made and most of my friends thought it was really great.

  1.       e. What would you change/do differently if given the chance?

  1. What I would change if I do this project again would be making the story longer or making an actual collage.

  1.       f. What did you learn from your colleagues' presentations/projects?

  1. What I learned was that they had a lot of brilliant ideas on how to do this also they kind of knew what to do since the beginning of the project so they were very prepared for this.

  1.       g. What did you learn about yourself as a result of doing this project?

  1. I learned that Macbeth after all was easy and I remember I used to say it was confusing in some parts of the story.
