Melissa Alvarez Q2 Slideshow

Q2 Artist Slideshow
During quarter two of advanced art, we had quite a variety of assignments to complete; some very different from others. After our two art history assignments, we had to complete an art collage. I enjoyed that assignment the most out of anything else this quarter because I spent so much time trying to make it perfect. I created a solid green bottle, with a variety of purple background. I also made sure to cast light on the bottle, so some parts were noticeably lighter than others. It was where I chose to be most creative. I also practiced my shadowing techniques when I drew a fabric, I created my own representation of the princess and the frog, and I practiced my photography skills when I went to New York. I think having a variety of assignments like this makes all the forms of the arts more accessible to us which I appreciated this quarter.

Emalyn's Q2 Senior Artwork

Posted by Emalyn Bartholomew in Art - Senior Art - Hull - E on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 10:05 pm

This quarter in art we tackled some pretty large projects. We started by delving deeper into art history, looking at art from all around the world, as well as learning about different styles of art. Then, we sketched out ferns. While working on those sketches, we learned about the Golden Triangle, which we also used to create our collages. After creating these collages, we began the process of printmaking. For my print, I decided to make a cup of steaming hot coffee, as coffee is near and dear to my heart. We had to make sketches, negative space drawings, and finally we cut it out. The printmaking process took a long time, but it was so worth it. I am so pleased with how my print came out, and I hope to use it as decoration of some sort. I think that this quarter pushed us all as art students, but I found that really enjoyable. I look forward to the next half of the year, and can't wait to try different mediums  in my work.

Jennifer's Art Portfolio

This quarter has been great so far in art class. I enjoy my class because I get to show off my creative side and become a artistic in my own special way. I am always proud of myself for making the best out of me since art is a hobby and possibly a talent. Once, when I get my hands on a piece of paper and a pencil I start to feel relieved from stress and feel like the world doesn’t exist to me since I’m way to focus on my work. For example, when I created a new ceiling tile for the classroom, I thought about my pervious work ‘Elsa’ from Frozen. I thought it would have been a good idea to create her sister ‘Anna’ so both sisters can live in SLA art class. It was really detailed and many students had complimented me. The portrait is not the only thing that I accomplished but I had followed up the requirements and completed all assignments that Ms. Hull had made us to. I took my time and accepted the challenged, Hull was also very helpful because there were some techniques that I was stuck when creating my plate and print and her advice was really useful. At the end, I felt good about myself. I look forward to my last days in senior art class.

Aateeyah Sharrieff Q2 Art

For quarter 2 art, we had many different art assignments and all of them were challenging in some way. I think that my art work reflects how well I worked this quarter. I enjoyed the negative space work that we had to complete the most because we actually got to create a physical piece of art and paint it as well.

Q2 Advanced Art

In the second quarter, Ms Hull gave us assignments that require time and effort. They were enjoyable but they took a lot of patience and mistakes. We started off with making collages, then moved on to drawing fabric pieces which was probably what took the most time and patience with making numerous mistakes. You can see that in the drawing itself. Then we had to take a picture that showed depth of field and also had to be edited with an editing tool. And lastly we had to create an illustration that represented a written book. I did mine on my favorite childhood book, The Giving Tree.

Ms Hull was very hands on this quarter with helping me figure out where I needed to strengthen my art skills. She took her time and explained and even demonstrated on my artwork until I had a clear idea of what to do. That was what helped me the most through this quarter. My artwork this quarter represented only a small portion of what I am capable of achieving.

Azaria Burton Art Portfolio Quarter 2

Posted by Azaria Burton in Art - Senior Art - Hull - E on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 7:17 pm

This past quarter in Art has been very interesting. Between juggling classes and college work I've been very busy and stressed. So it was very nice being able to come to art four times a week and being able to let my guard down and have fun. I wasn't  as imaginative this time, but I used a lot of colors. I especially had fun creating my Golden Triangle collage because I had previously heard about the Fibonacci Sequence, but I never bothered to learn what it actually was. I used this assignment as a way to learn more about the Fibonacci sequence. I used different colored  shapes to create my collage because I thought that would be very cool to see. I think my artwork this quarter is better than my artwork last quarter because of all the colors I used. I think colors draw attention and make art look better overall. I hope that people will enjoy looking at my colorful drawings and collages because I enjoyed making them!

MP2 Art - Nia Hammond

Throughout this marking period, we worked more on illustrations and drawing things we both imagine and see in real life. The illustrations we produced include drawings of fabric, a collage made from old magazine paper, and an illustration of any form of text that spoke to us. Also, we edited photos via the Pixlr app.
