Quater 4 Art Work
This is the work that i did this quarter the hardest I worked on was the ceiling tile which took longer than I thought. I also looked up different art ideas online and found some abstract art ideas.

Art Q4
This quarter, I realized that I am not good with creating art with my hands. No matter how much I practice, I'm just not able to. I know I can take great pictures, but painting and drawing are just not my thing. I tried hard to make good paintings, but it didn't work out. I think my snowflake is the best thing I created this quarter because the painting is messy and colorful, which I like. I think I might be able to make good pottery one day, but for now I'm going to stick to photography. Photography is a medium that I can express myself through the best, and I can show my viewers exactly what I'm seeing. Nobody can define what art is, and nobody can tell me if my art is good or bad. I know what I like and dislike that I created, and my photos are what I'm most proud of.

I really enjoyed working on Quarter 4 art this year. It was a pleasure to do something for a grade which also enabled me to get out my creative personality. For my first project I wanted to draw a photo of one of Kanye West's most famous album covers. I did this with incorporating the same colors and photo on a bigger piece of paper, making sure I did not leave out details because that was the important part of the project. For my second project I wanted to make sure I did something that was a little bit harder to do. That is why I decided to draw a photo of Kanye West while performing. I made sure to make note of the things he does during performance and one of the things that makes him such a unique talent. I did this by taking the lights from his performances. For my final project I wanted to highlight a album that was very close to me. This was "The college dropout" by Kanye West. I drew the album artwork for the project, making sure to capture the small details that the artwork contains. This probably was the hardest of all of the projects to capture because of all of the small details in the photo. Overall I very much enjoyed these projects and if i were to do it again I would just give myself more time to work.

Quarter 4: Final Senior Art

Posted by Jennifer Perez in Art - Senior Art - Hull - E on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 2:56 pm

Throughout my final quarter in Science Leadership Academy, I gained a good amount of knowledge and build memories from the past four years of high school. For this art course, we had the chance to create any three pieces of art that our heart desires for the last projects. I believe that students had the opportunity to go creative and make art that had to be worth eight hours for each project. In my slideshows, I decided to use canvas and include painting methods because it's one of my favorite things to do. Painting has always done me a favor because I can be artistic and be messy at the same time. For example, my painting based on the Ariel from The Little Mermaid. The canvas itself was very simple and it's an outline of her body but I decided to switch it up and add glitter so the canvas can pop out. It's took me an amount of hour to let all of my canvas to sit and dry off so I was able to continue with the details. Now expect, the portrait of Selena Quintanilla. Her drawing was made with color pencils, instead on a canvas I had took a big piece of thin paper and drew her beautiful face with flowers in her hair. It was very difficult at first but I wanted to be independent and change my mistakes by fixing the drawing. Overall, I knew that I only had to create three projects in total but I made five. It was fun to be in this class because I let my creative side of Jenny to be led out. I truly loved to be part of SLA art class and wouldn't change a thing.

Throughout this year I wanted to focus on widening my art style. Drawing not only what I thought up, or the art that was assigned to me but your average ordinary things that one may not think to draw.
I also told myself my capstone and senior project will focus on displaying my artistic style.
This portfolio is an arrangement of some of the work I may have done on my own time or the concepts that were given to us during my art class this year.
I used mediums I was unfamiliar with and tried to wrap my brain around colors. My traditional style focuses on black and white pencil drawing. There are a number of display in this presentation that use color well and I hope you enjoy them as I did while creating them.

I would also like to note the art isn't just what we make within a class room. In cities like Philadelphia there are group of people that partake in street art. Whether that's putting stickers, wheat pastes or spray down a building artists are able to make art, their city being their canvas. I am fortunate enough to know many people within this small artist enclave. You may see some street art within this portfolio and all I ask is you keep an open mind about what you see and why these people do what they do.

This quarter I got accepted to the Rhode Island School of Design, the top design school in the world. I'm pretty insanely excited and I'm not totally sure how I got in but somehow I did. Along with the good though, I lost my laptop with most of my design work on it, some files were backed up, but many were not. The work shown above is what I've done physically and after loosing my laptop. Recently I've been very interested in Wes Anderson's films and have used them as inspirations for my work.

Artist Statement
This quarter, I decided to focus on the meditation of letting things happen. When the inevitable strikes, it’s a magical state of mind I go through, because I created it. I never like to see things for what they really are, only because I hate reality, so instead, I see the message of the artistry these things carry. With an inclusion of the natural elements of the world, and the natural elements of myself, I find what it is I truly love about art come alive. Art is never an area of restrictions; it should liberate you. Liberation… that’s what I wanted to feel, I guess.
