North and South - What if?

Posted by Yadierys Angeles in American History - Laufenberg on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 6:42 pm

Why did you choose this topic?
I chose it because Newon gave me a good idea to go along with, and I was looking forward to making that idea.

Why did you choose this type of presentation format?
I felt that the best way to express our feelings of the government was by expressing it visually.

Where did you run into trouble with the project?
Editing and the bibliography. In editing, we had to work on it on my laptop and it was difficult when we split up the work because one person wouldn't always be with the other to do their part so some of the work had to be done at school for that person.

What went well with this project?
The recording went really well. We even got to do many things that weren't in the script and made it a lot better than if we just went along with the script.

If you had it to do over, what would you change about your decisions or your process?
I might have started the project a bit earlier, and I would have used less pictures. I might have found a way to balance out both images and videos.

What did you learn?
I learned about the North and South Korean government, and although we took a childlike view on their political views on each other, I will admit that maybe there are complicated things on this issue that I "can't understand."

NHD: Women In Combat

Posted by Nadif Bracey in American History - Laufenberg on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 11:18 pm

We chose Woman In Combat because we felt that woman often go unrecognized. Its a man orientated military system and we wanted to show the courages lives of women in combat. We wanted to represent that in a video/documentary because it would of been uninteresting if done with a podcast. We made a 5 minute video to show women and combat, because we didn't want to make it too long. The only problem we had was compiling all the information. We didn't know where to get some primary sources from. The thing that went well is the video. It was easy putting the video together once we had the information. The things I would do differently is the way we conducted data. I would have liked to find an actual women who served in the military. If we were to redo it that would be one of the first things I would do. I've learned that women had major impacts in the military. Women in armed forces are women too, and have lives that don't just restrict them into a certain category.

NHD Project: Education: the Pursuit of Justice

Posted by Anonymous in American History - Laufenberg on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 10:05 am

I chose to do this topic originally because in my ILP (Marshall Brennan) we were learning about student rights and I thought this could become the perfect topic for my NHD project Donna and I chose to turn it into a documentary together because we originally wanted to incorporate my ILP into it but that became an impossibility.

We chose to do a documentary because we are both very creative and felt we could make this our own. We also wanted to film my ILP. Even though not all of our ideas worked out we still enjoyed making the video.

We ran into trouble when we didn't have enough time to have both of us record. It ended up being that I would record and Donna would just write some of the things out for me. An easy fix but it was difficult at the time.

I feel that besides the ILP aspect it turned out exactly how I imagined it. I don't like some of the pictures we used but they were all that was available.

I would gather all of the info first before trying to make anything because sometimes we got stuck having to go back and find things we neglected to get before. It made everything take longer.

I actually learned more about my topic this time around. There was a tad more research involved and I also had to listen to the court cases which gave me the chance to understand more of what was going on.

Q3 Benchmark Reflection

Posted by Rick Kinard in American History - Laufenberg on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 9:13 am

OUR PROJECT

Why did i choose this topic?
Originally i was going to do immigration in America the difference between unexcepted illegal immigration and people exempt illegal immigration. Then I figured why not go deeper and decided to talk about how becoming a citizen has changed along the years. Upon doing research i noticed the way it changed was no fair to the people of a nation we were at conflict with even if they were trying to flee.

Why did you choose this type of presentation format?
I want to do a video but
