Our Brost on "City upon a hill" In bronacular
A brodells upon a hill.
The bronely way to brahvoid this shipwreck and to brovide for our bro-sperity is to follbro the counsel of madden, to do justly, to love mercy, to walk bro-ly with our Brod. We must party together in this frat as one bro. We must entertain each other in brotherly broffection with natty ice and madden. We must upbrold a bromiliar bromerce in all madden losses and other unbroly conduct. We must delight each brother, make brothers bronditions our brown brojyce brogether. Loose brogether, laybro brogether, and suffer brogether. Always having brofore our eyes, our bromission and brommunity in the party, our bromunity, as bros of the same frat. Bro shall we keep the bro-unity of the bro, and the bond of madden. The lord will be our bro (broseiden, king of the brocean.) and delight to party among us, as his bros, and will brommand, a bro-blessing upon us in all our games, bro that we will see bro more of his brodome, brower broodness, and bruth, than formerly we have been broquainted with. We will find that the COD of the internet is among us, when a bros worth of two six packs shall be able to pwn a thousand noobs. When he shall make us party and bro, that bros shall talk of broceeding botations, The cod makes it like Brohio; We must brosider that we shall be as a Brodells upon a hill, the eyes of all bros are on us, and… Tl;dt, broever, we shall brummarize.
All bros must bro together in the same frat in order to enjoy the broness of their natty ice and games of madden and ultimate Frisbee, the life of the bro must be always brogether, and never bropart. If a bro will work with his fellbro bros, then he shall have brocess, however if a bro loses touch with his bromances, that bro shall lack the brobility to broceed. If all bros stick together, we will have as many good parties with natty ices, madden, Frisbee, and plenty of noobs to pwn, as there are affliction shirts in brodells, hence to say, we will be like a brodells upon a hill.
City on a Hill, the Echols way
Okay, so we have these little people living on a teeney weeney little hill and they’re all “We’re tiny little people and everyone’s looking up at us and stuff!” So then one of them is like, “Praise Jesus!” and other spiritual religious-y stuff. Yayyyy, Jesus! He’s awesome. But the tiny little people have to work together and COLLABORATE, right? Woooo, collaboration! And everyone ELSE, the rest of the world, is watching them like WE’RE WATCHING YOU TINY LITTLE PEOPLE! And Jesus is watching them too like AHMYGAAAAD, I’M JESUS! So then the tiny little people have to do a good job of being nice to each other and working together or people will be like “You tiny little people suck and Jesus sucks,” AHMYGAAAAD! And that would suck, becaaaauuuse, Jesus is really awesome and he doesn’t suck! So, yeah, and now... the tiny little people have to work hard and care for each other and be a community, WOO, community! Because otherwise they’ll die OHNOOOOO AHMYGAAAAD! So, guys, like, for real, seriously, collaborate and stuff, YAYYYY!
"Poetry Slam!" : Advertisements that Objectify Women
Darling,
Throughout your teenage years what have you broken?
A few bones?
Maybe even a few hearts?
NO! That's Not All.
You have cracked your mothers soul like
the spine
of
a
new
book
And you continue to pose for this foolishness as you witness her blood pour
And as the pain in the veins of her eyes remain
Reflect on the messages you send to men
Is this becoming a trend?
What has Gotten into Us Young Women?
Sincerely,
Been There Done That
Your continence has constantly verbalized (Just Do It)
But for what? (Just Do It)
For many males to be mesmerized by her thighs
Or possibly what lies in between them (Just Do It)
You see she knows the way it will be portrayed (Jus Do It)
But it doesn't matter because she is still getting payed (Just Do It)
And maybe after this she'll even get laid
But the negative image of her will never fade
But...She is still afraid (Just Do It)
She knows it's wrong
The pitchfork of the devil is dragging her along
It's her choice to move on
And leave all these bad spirits alone
My purpose for all of this is to poetically open your eyes
to realize
that these marketing guys
are not on our side
You see we women are queens
Not only are we queens but we are also
Human Beings
This sexual curse has been rehearsed and rehearsed and it hurts our youth
And our youth is our future
And we shall leave this in the past
Objectification has gone on for far too long
Let us women stand up and fight for our rights
For we are not just a body that pleases the sight
Let us tear down ads where women are posing preposterously
and standing slutty
And reshape the world and re-sculpt the minds of our youth to once again
cherish the female flesh
and perish the thought of
you
you
and
you,
not all being beautiful. You see these ads are ugly, what I see in me and think of WE
does not equal what these ads portray.
These degrading ads have received debatable responses like
"Oh it's not that bad" or
"Where is your sense of humor?"
Well I say there is a line between humorous and disrespectful.
These ads have crossed the line and have been throughout history for a long time.
How dare you be so mean
and have the audacity to degrade a queen.

I choose this topic because I see degrading advertisements on television, on paper, billboards, etc. and take offense to the brutal material coming from the product. I felt that poetry has a way with words that could get inside people and "grind them up" so the feeling that the marketers should've had when they were brainstorming about advertisements and came up with offensive materials such a the ads above. Out of the sample I collected in my research, these are the subdued versions out of all of the example ads I found. The others were entirely too graphic to use for a project for school. I didn't have much trouble with this project . I actually enjoyed it; my heart was in it. The fact that I found so many ads helped with this project. I wish I could've written a poem for each one I found. If I had more time I would do so. I learned how cold hearted some people are with this project and that a "sense of humor" can be rather offensive to a certain group of people.
Q3 BM-NHD Project: Gay Rights
Our NHD project tracked the debate concerning Gay Rights from Harvey Milk's election to current day "don't ask, don't tell" repeal.
Our video is HERE
Group members: Maxime, Luna and Julia
Even though this was not my original topic I chose to write about, I switched groups because I believed that the topic of Gay Rights had a lot more potential and fit the theme well. The project our group originally started with was a website. Unfortunately, our website did not match the requirements for NHD, so we decided to make a documentary using the timeline and speeches used in our website. This actually worked out splendidly. Our timeline and speeches fit together surprisingly well and demonstrated the debate concerning gay rights effectively.
If I had to do the project over, I would not have wasted time working on the website. If I had known that the requirements for the website were limiting, I would have used the time to find more primary source clips for the documentary. However, this project taught me a lot about the struggle to achieve gay rights.
I learned about the evolution the debate went through. The struggle started with a plea for equal rights, it evolved after "Don't Ask, Don't Tell' and now the debate is about gay marriage. By watching clips of different points of view, I now understand the debate from both sides. I also observed the tactic of politicians concerning gay marriage; they clearly state that they believe gay couples deserve equal benefits as heterosexual couples but none of the politicians clearly state they support gay marriage. It is interesting that the struggle for equal rights has not yet come to a close.

There are many struggles in the American Society; however, the struggle of Native American has not been depicted very much where I live - in Philadelphia, or the East Coast at large. Personally, my interest is to studying history and current situation of struggles of different group of people. Therefore, I found that the struggle of the Apache tribe in Southeastern Arizona was a suitable and connectable topic for me. Out of all the given formats, web site was the best way for me to go, consider that I am armature in film editing, a bad writer, and unfriendly performer. Through out the process of doing the website, I ran into trouble of find sources that could back up my thesis and provide accurate information. However, I was fortunate to know some of the people that involve in the Sacred Run, so I was able to gather a sizable information and experiences from them. If there is a do-over, I would love to do it earlier and consult more people. I also could have contacted the people there. But that gave me lessons of researching and time managing. Most importantly, I've learned how the struggle of Native American could be linked to what happen today. It was also an opportunity for me to learn about others and their struggle.

America's Impact Throughout the Ages
This is the National History Project completed by Zayd Alsardary, Kabbour Rizq, and Dennis Mawson. We did our project based on the theme of debate and diplomacy and America's Impat Throughout the Ages. Enjoy! :)

Reflection:
For the project, we chose the topic on America's Impact Throughout the Ages and how America has had a part on how history played out in many events and the world today. We chose this topic because a while back my group came up with the thought about how the world would be like if America were to not have played a role in the world, and how their impact played parts on outcomes on events in history, and it seemed really interesting so we went for it. We chose doing it in a website because it was much easier to do and you could do many things in it: putting videos, adding pictures, having a whole website layed out for you. Also everyone in the group was very familiar with iWeb, so it was a bit less of a hassle to complete the benchmark. We never really ran into any problems with the project because we did everything pretty efficiently together and completed the project very nicely. Everything pretty much went well in the project. We had videos, pictures, explanations, it was pretty in depth, and we learned some things that we didnt know before. It was great project overall. A future consideration would be to maybe go more in depth in the explanations and such, and polish up the project a better, but overall our decisions and process were good. As a whole group, we learned many things we didnt know about events in history and America's impact. For me, I enjoyed this project very much. I learned SO much about the events that went on in the world, from what time period to what time period, who was involved, whether it was good or bad, and much more. I enjoyed the project. It was not only interesting but fun as well.
